I don't know. This ship sometimes makes stops for supplies, but...

Some of us went to this outpost called Strela awhile back. That place wasn't much better than HERE - some people almost didn't even make it back.

It was a mess. People who didn't fit into their little hivemind were being arrested and then brainwashed or something. It's like you lost all sense of who you were and just literally became part of their system.

Anyone would be better off dead than to stay there.

What the hell? Who could do something like that?

I don't know. Didn't care to stick around long enough to figure it out.

Glad you at least got out okay. I feel bad for whoever's still stuck there. Even if they don't know what's being done to them is sick, it's still awful.

There was a guy back home who tried to run people's minds and whenever they started thinking for themselves he'd just kill them.

[Ennis had the choice to rebel and die or stay under his control. Maybe she was more fortunate than those people.]

Doubt there was much that could be done for any of those people. Whatever happened to them, it's been going on for some time. Doesn't make it any easier though.

Christ. The fact that there are more people out there who'd go and do the same thing like that is messed up.

Yeah, I used to think he was a pretty damn special brand of evil, but I guess not. Seems like as long as people can screw with someone else's head, they will.

It's fine. He got what he deserved in the end.

I hope that what he got was just as unpleasant as the shit he was dishing out to other people. Eye for an eye, you know.

I don't think it was bad enough, but it was the best that could be done with everything that was happening. There was other stuff to take care of too.

One of the people he messed with got to stab him in the back, at least.

Guess that's what counts, in the end. Not everyone gets to have that chance.

Yeah, you're right. It sucks. It's just not the same if the people who need justice aren't there to dish it out or see it happen.

Sometimes it's better that they don't.

I don't see why it'd be a bad thing.

[He's been fortunate that even if he's not the one doing the beating, he's seen the people who wronged him get paid back. It's comforting, in a way.]

I just don't think that it's the kind of thing that everyone needs to see.

Then I guess it depends on the type of person. Payback's important where I come from.

Where I come from it just gets even more people hurt. Can't speak for each case though.

[If he thinks about it, he can see Murphy's points. A lot of the guys who get whacked and deserve it still have innocent families; that's a sour reality he usually tries to ignore.]

It'd make everything easier if people could just learn from the one guy who screws up and gets his face kicked in and not be assholes.

My home life is about as much of a mess, if not more. I'm not holding my breath on finding someplace that's better, just anywhere that's not here or there.
